First Day of Christmas

Our Entranceway…

It can sure be chaos, can’t it though?
Getting ready for a Holiday for which most folks “don’t have time”…
Well, its’ good to remember that none of us “Has Time” for Anything!
It is about Making Time!
It is about what’s important to Us!

It is about the Life that we Choose to Live!

So, just to review:
December 25this Christmas Day.
December 26this the First Day of Christmas!
December 27this the Second Day of Christmas…
And so forth through January 6th, the Twelfth Day of Christmas! (more…)

The Present Moment

I have been told that Blog Posts are generally significantly shorter than the kind of writing I do. And while never one to conform, it occurs to me that occasionally a Brief Thought can be just enough to make someone’s day.
And so, for Today, I am offering the following Brief Thought…
(and who knows, if I get a few more of these underbelt, I might even develop a Twitter Feed!)

Today is a Gift!
That’s why they call it the Present!

It’s about two weeks until Christmas!
And very much in spite of the commercial push to get us to buy things which now begins at Labor Day, I grew up in a World in which even these first two weeks of December were considered very much Ordinary Time.
Back then, we lived more in the Present Moment!

THANKFUL!

THANKFUL!
THANK FULL!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU…

GRATEFUL!
GREAT FULL!
GRATEFUL GRATEFUL GRATEFUL GRATEFUL GRATEFUL…

I LOVE this Holiday!
I know!
I know!
It Celebrates undocumented immigrants coming to America!
Quite Controversial, nowadays!
And there are concerns about what the European Settlers did to the Wampanoag Native Americans after they arrived…
America has some sordid history.
In fact, historians more recently suggest that the GivingThanks Day Meal is a footnote in history — a very small mention in a Journal of the time.
But Giving Thanks is a Big Concept!

40 DAYS

I know. I know.
With all that is going on in the World and in my Life right now,
If someone even mentioned Christmas to me in the middle of November,
I would react with somewhat of a bristle!
I would shrug them off.
I might even be tempted to put up my hand at them and shout, “NO!”
Who wants to hear about Christmas right now, anyway!?

Well, I Do.
I just can’t get over the idea that the Saving of the World is worth Celebrating!
I really like the idea that the World was Saved some two thousand years ago,
And that we actually have nothing to worry about, as the World is Already Saved! (more…)

Independence Day 2018

4thofJuly

A Meme from the Internet

Today, We March.
We March for our Lives!
We March for Civil Rights!
We March for Equality!
We March for Freedom!
We March for Justice!
Though I have Marched countless times before,
Today is the first day in America I have had to March to keep Children out of Cages!

Pride 2018

A Meme from the Internet

It’s Pride!
We March!
We Dance!
In Celebration of our Freedom!
It takes Courage Every Day
And we Dance in Celebration of the Courage to Be Who You Are!
For many Young People, it is a time for Dance Parties and showing off the Spectacular Toned Bodies of their Youthfulness!
Their Beauty and their Fire… So Full Of Wonder!
But there was a time when we danced in low-ceiling basements, hidden from the mainstream, without corporate sponsorship, and with way fewer folks lining Fifth Avenue.
We fought against Oppression and Marched Proudly for our right to exist (more…)

ReAwakening: Summer 2018

The Scent of Lilacs

The Desktop of my Computer usually has a plethora of Open Documents in the Dock,
Both Creative and Work-Related…
So many Undone Things!

Some of these Projects have been open and in development for a Year
or Two or Seven…
Some resurface periodically,
Others I am just always working on…
It is a slow-going Process.

The Birthing Process, takes a full nine months to make a tiny tiny human being,
one that needs everything — daily bathing, education, clothes, Love and Care…

Things my Mother Taught Me

In honor of Mother’s Day 2018

Mothers are Precious and Beautiful Creatures.
They are Loving and Kind and it is in their Nature to Give.
They do their Best to help us; still, sometimes they succeed in driving us Crazy!
Sometimes this Act of Love — Birthing Us, i.e.: Opening Up the Avenue for us to come into our Physical Being — can lead to all kinds of dysfunction and even animosity or resentment, but regardless, they are the one person who was Always There!
Sometimes, they left too early, and this can cause confusion. But it is never due to a lack of Love! They made sure they got us here before they left!

Flow

There is something So Beautiful about how it all Flows:
Winter: Dormant. Quiet. Not much in Bloom, except the Ever-Present EverGreens Reminding us of Life’s Presence even in the midst of the most barren season…
Reminding us of Invincible Summer…
How it dovetails into Messy March: A time of SnowStorms & Mistakes,
A Time for Creative Risk!
A Time for Falling on one’s Face and Celebrating the Effort!
And Yesterday, the Last Day of Messy March, 2018, Leads us right into Easter Sunday!
