Ninth Day of Christmas

IMG_3739It’s Snowing Today.
A Great Day for Baking!

I have found that doing my Christmas Baking a bit Later in the Holiday,
It is received with Great Appreciation.
As one friend put it, “This is Great! It arrives just when all the other stuff is gone, and you’re craving a treat!”
I Always send Home-Baked Cookies to my Accountant.
He is Wonderful!
His entire Office seems to Appreciate it.

And apparently, Home-Baked Cookies are less common than they were years ago.
And since January is a Wildly Busy Time at an Accounting Firm,
They seem to arrive at just the right moment every year.

Is there any Holiday Baking you wanted to try this year? (more…)

Eighth Day of Christmas

Eight…and the Second day of 2015.
Numerologically, this is the year of 8.
2+0+1+5 = 8
8 signifies Balance.
Therefore this is the Year of Balance.
And Today, the Eighth Day of Christmas, is Also about Balance.
So, Have Some.
Or Get Some.
Or Let Go of Whatever is Creating an Imbalance in your Life.
Let it Go
And Open to your Natural Equilibrium, Poise and Stability —
Your Inherent Goodness
The Person you Truly Are…

Seventh Day of Christmas

Just disassembling the Front Door and its Wreath will take an hour or two

Happy New Year.
2015
And it’s still Christmas!

There is a kind of subtle dread that begins to creep in at this point in the process.
It’s New Year’s Day, and something tells me that by this weekend,
there will be a lot of barren Christmas Trees lying out on the curbside,
awaiting pick-up.
I admit it’s a Challenge to leave it up.
If we go all Twelve Days, it Ends Monday,
and then we cannot begin the UnDecorating until Tuesday —
meaning it will likely not happen until the following Weekend.
The Feeling of Joy starts to dwindle as the weight of the task ahead rises up
and begins to feel Herculean…
Fight It!
Fight for JOY! (more…)

Sixth Day of Christmas

NewYear MEme1New Year’s Eve
The Sixth Day of Christmas

Nothing to distract from the chaos of the Holidays like adding in Another Holiday in the Middle…
It has been several weeks of rushing about
And I am reminded of that Children’s Book in which the Little Boy wishes it could be Christmas Every Day, and then gets his wish…
And within only a week or two of eating big feasts at Every Meal, rushing around and seeing relatives, and not getting anything else done, he starts to go out of his mind.
Sometimes, just the Twelve Days of Christmas can begin to feel like too much…

It ain’t necessarily so. (more…)

Fifth Day of Christmas

IMG_3887Well, Already I feel like a Crazy Person.
Christmas was Last Week and I am still Celebrating!
It’s only the Fifth Day of Christmas and already I’m a Social OutCast.
No one else on the train is wearing Christmas Clothing or carrying brightly wrapped packages… I am the only one.
I look around and sing to myself, “Do They Know It’s Christmastime at All?”

Fourth Day of Christmas

kwanzaa-stampFourth Day of Christmas.
Fourth Day of Kwanzaa.
Kwanzaa is Such a Beautiful Holiday.
To be honest, I am not sure I am technically allowed to celebrate it,
As my ancestry is not of the African Diaspora.

But I also know that “Happy Holidays” often sounds more like an Apology
than the Proclamation it deserves to be,
and I would rather err on the side of Celebrating and Enjoying Life Too Much
than too Little.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to me means MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HANNUKAH AND HAPPY KWANZAA AND HAPPY SOLSTICE AND HAPPY ST. LUCIA DAY AND HAPPY THREE KINGS DAY AND GOD JUL and though I Know we may be Months from EID or DIWALI, A BLESSED EID AND HAPPY DIWALI TOO! (more…)

Third Day of Christmas

IMG_3700Wow!
Only the Third Day
Why is it starting to feel like it’s over, already?
Sunday of the Weekend After Christmas – feels like enough already, eh?
That’s Cultural.
You Choose!
These Twelve Days are Yours… (more…)

Second Day of Christmas

IMG_1772Today is the Second Day of Christmas.
This year, it falls on a Saturday so it might be a bit easier to Relax and Celebrate.
Have you been interrupted this week by Work Responsibilities?
Those of us in the Second Half of Life
Remember when such a thing was unheard of…
Christmas was a time to be with Family and Friends
Pause
Reflect
And while some who worked operating Trains and Busses
Or in the Medical Profession
Would be called to duty,
Most Clients and Bosses Left People alone.
Notice how that’s changed?

Yes.
Christmas changes over time.
Even here in America (more…)

First Day of Christmas

IMG_2125How was it?
All that Build-up
All that Craziness
And it’s over, right?
Nope.
Its Just Beginning.

Yesterday was Christmas Day.
Today is the First Day of Christmas. (more…)

Season of Hope Alive

Four Days into the New Year.

House still fully decorated …

Still wearing my Christmas Socks and SweatShirt… and wondering if that makes me some kind of lunatic.

The Joyful Noise of Christmas has died down outside my window.

Decorations have come down; Valentines Displays fill the aisles of local stores.

Still, today is technically only the Tenth Day of Christmas. (more…)
