Stuffed Peppers

IMG_4323Cooking is an Act of Love.

My MOM was not one to cook with a Recipe.
Once in awhile she would use one as a guide,
But for her, Cooking was a Creative Excursion.
I’m that way too.
I get it from her.

I like it.
Because Love is Messy.
And we never know what’s going to happen.
But somehow when we find the Willingness to take the Risk,
Something Good Always turns out.

Tulip Festival Skagit Valley, WA

Tulips
Everywhere
Fields of them
Ephemeral

Apparently there is an annual Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley
Of Washington State
Up near Bellingham.
Who knew?

So off we went to see the Tulips
I am playing Tiny Tim singing “Tip Toe Through the Tulips”
on Repeat in the car

We park and head into a field.

HAPPY EASTER!

IMG_4539To the Lovely People with whom I had EASTER DINNER,

Thank You!
The Lamb was So Delicious!
The Asparagus So Green and Tender!
The Potatoes roasted to perfection!
…All served on Royal Doulton China, no less!

There was that moment in the middle of the meal when the Hostess, apropos of Nothing, blurted out, “UH! And isn’t it Terrible what is Going on in Indiana! How about That!”
Of course, I’ve been hearing that all week long, so it seemed topical.
That is until the part I have not heard before amidst my social circles…
“Those poor people having their Religious Freedom Attacked!”
“And Those Corporations pulling out! And trying to pull the BasketBall away! It’s such an Assault!”
“The headline in the paper read, ‘Will Not Serve Gays!’ and it wasn’t even True! They didn’t say that they wouldn’t serve Gays! They just said that they wouldn’t cater their Wedding!”
The thick rumble of “DAMN that Liberal Media!” was palpable in the room.
I summon my Inner JON STEWART! (more…)

Threshold Generation

Family PicnicThreshold Generation.
That’s what they’re calling us.
We are predictably the Last Generation to have Grown Up without Computer Technology
And that’s ForEver
Like the Last Generation, a century or so ago, to have grown up without a Telephone
Or the Last Generation, five centuries or so ago, to have grown up without the Printing Press
Or the Last Generation, thirty-five centuries or so ago, to have grown up before the Invention of the Wheel
We are the Last people populating the earth to have known what Life without Computer Technology was Like.
And with that comes the responsibility,
That to Future Generations
The Lessons we have to teach shall not be Lost.

No Apologies!

The view from a Subway Platform earlier this week

The view from a Subway Platform earlier this week

I make No Apologies!
I think that Life is Beautiful
An Awfully Wonderful Adventure
A Gymboree for the Soul
An Opportunity to learn Forgiveness and Strength and Surrender
To be In Relationship with One Another — All of Us
To develop Attributes and cultivate Spiritual Values
And I don’t think there is Any Such thing as a Bad Year or even a Bad Day!
I make No Apologies for that!

Christmas Card 2014

IMG_2593Well, it’s Valentine’s Day Weekend, and we know what that means.
It’s time for my Christmas Card! For those who may not know, I have always celebrated Christmas with a Greeting of Words. I have always believed in the power of Words, and for years, I sent out cards with the words of others, celebrating the Joys of the Season. Now, in this Second Half of Life, I am finding my own Voice, and adding to the Words and Stories of our culture which Celebrate this most Wonderful Holiday. It takes me awhile to find just the right words, so my Christmas Card is offered traditionally sometime between the Twelve Days of Christmas and the First Day of Spring.
Nowadays, My Christmas Story is posted here electronically, at Live The Questions Now. Please feel free to “Like,” “Follow,” “Subscribe,” “Share,” Tell Your Friends, or just sit back with a mug of your favorite Hot Beverage and Enjoy a few minutes of Bonus ChristmasTime… I hope you enjoy this year’s Offering…
