BreakFast in the TreeHouses
The Best of the Breakfasts!

Today: PUFF PASTRY TRIANGLES

One of My Favorite Things!
First of All, Puff Pastry is Good!
So they’re Always Good!

Secondly, use store bought Puff Pastry from the Freezer Case!
As Janet the Magic Treehouse Kitchen Sorceress said to me years ago when she taught me these treats, “We make Everything from scratch. Except our Puff Pastry.
Because with the Wonderful Ones on the market, to make your own, you’d have to be…” and she affably rolled her eyes in a gesture that clearly read as “Plum Loco!”
Now, if you’re the kind of Chef who makes your own, I think that’s Great — If you can do it, and you have the time, How Marvelous!
Invite me over for BreakFast!
But for most of us, it can be prohibitively time consuming.
I did try (more…)

BreakFast in the TreeHouses
The Best of the Breakfasts!

Today: EGG BAKES

EGG BAKES are fairly simple.
They are a Great Way to serve Breakfast to a lot of guests, without having to cook individual omelets for each person, which would likely not all be ready at the same time.
With a little prep the day before, the Egg Bake pops in the Oven, and comes out ready all at once so that everyone may enjoy Breakfast Together.
And Community — Being Together — is a Beautiful Way to start the Day
And Live the Day, for that matter!

At Tree House Point www.TreeHousePoint.com , I have seen a greater variety of Egg Bakes than I could have known existed.

Will You Stand with Me?

grateful-2Will you stand with Me?
This is still a Free Country.
And You may vote for Whomever you Like!
I respect that.
I respect your Freedom,
And I acknowledge that Protecting Your Freedom is Protecting My Own — There is One Freedom that we both share,
It is Precious!
And to be Treasured!
It is fine, as you say, to Agree to Disagree.
My Question now is:
Will you stand with me? (more…)

States of America

i-must-learn-forgiveness-yet-again-at-this-stage-of-life-i-must-learn-it-as-if-for-the-very-first-time“There is no way to Peace. The way is Peace.”
— A. J. MUSTE

As early as Kindergarten, every Grammar School Class I remember began with the Pledge of Allegiance:
“I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America…”
Even today, I take that pledge very seriously.
It never occurred to any of us then that there might come a day when we would be somehow Less United.
Yet here we are, at Election 2016.

I want to Show Love and Respect for Every One of God’s Creatures.
I want to see the Good in People.
I want to Live in a World that is Peaceful and Brimming Over with Beauty and Love and Rampant Kindness.
I am Imperfect — very much so — but these are the Ideals toward which I strive.

Fifteen Years

Spontaneous Memorials cropped up all over the city in the days following 9/11/2001

Spontaneous Memorials cropped up all over the city in the days following 9/11/2001

Can it be fifteen years since that one Morning?

I had just opened my own Business in New York — moved into the Office the Week Before.
A friend was coming down from Westchester to help me set up my Computer Systems, and I was to meet her at Grand Central at 9:45am.
My Partner saw me to the door, as I was heading off.
Our downstairs neighbor was heading slowly up the steps toward us — which was unusual all by itself — and looking somewhat eerily stunned.
“Have you guys heard the news this morning?” she asked.
We had not.
“A plane hit the World Trade Center!
They don’t know if it’s an accident or terrorism or what.
I am just heading up to the roof to have a look.”
We joined her. (more…)

The Deaths of those 49 kids in Orlando kicked off this tumultuous Summer in the shadow of what I find to be a fairly Terrifying Presidential Election Campaign, all making us aware of just how Vulnerable we are.

Forgiveness and PRIDE

Mettle. Spirit. Lions. Flamboyant. Impressive. Yes. Celebrate Pride.“I would like nothing better than to see you die, Mr. McKinney. However, this is the time to begin the healing process. To show mercy to someone who refused to show any mercy. To use this as the first step in my own closure about losing Matt… Mr. McKinney, I’m going to grant you life, as hard as that is for me to do, because of Matthew…Mr. McKinney, I give you life in the memory of one who no longer lives.”
— DENNIS SHEPARD, father of MATTHEW SHEPARD, in his Statement to the Court 11/4/99

AARON MCKINNEY and RUSSELL HENDERSON, nearly two decades ago, beat MATTHEW SHEPARD striking him 19 to 21 times in the head with the butt of a .357-caliber Magnum Smith & Wesson pistol. They then tied his dismembered body to an A-Frame fence in Laramie, Wyoming, leaving him to die.
He was beaten so badly, AARON KREIFELS, the mountain biker who discovered him the next morning, said that he could not tell if it was a human form that he saw. He thought it was a ScareCrow. Sheriff REGGIE FLUTY reported that SHEPARD’s face was caked in blood except where tears had left tracks along his cheeks.

That was in the Autumn of 1998.
It seems like it was Two Weeks Ago.

Two weeks ago —
It seems like it was Eighteen Years Ago —
OMAR MATEEN entered PULSE NightClub in Orlando Florida.
He killed 49 innocent people, and injured 53 more.
